Tyler Reddick retained his position atop the NASCAR Cup Series points standings following Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, maintaining a 62-point advantage over second-place Ryan Blaney through eight races of the 2026 season.
The race at the concrete short track delivered significant movement throughout the standings, though the top and bottom positions remained unchanged. Reddick's points lead stayed intact despite the chaos that unfolded during the 500-lap event.
Chase Briscoe emerged as the biggest climber in the standings, jumping four positions to 17th place with 176 points. His strong Bristol performance moved him closer to the playoff cutline, though he remains 33 points below the current 16th-place threshold.
Kyle Larson also made substantial gains, advancing three spots to sixth place with 260 points. The former Cup Series champion now sits 126 points behind leader Reddick as the season approaches its first quarter mark.
The Bristol race proved costly for several contenders, with Brad Keselowski suffering the largest drop. The veteran driver fell three positions to 11th place, now holding 229 points and sitting 157 behind the leader.
William Byron and Christopher Bell each dropped two spots in the standings following disappointing results at the Tennessee short track. The playoff picture continues to take shape as drivers battle for the 16 available spots. Currently, Shane van Gisbergen occupies the final playoff position in 16th place with 177 points, creating a 209-point gap to the leader and establishing the cutline for postseason eligibility.
At the bottom of the standings, Alex Bowman remains in last place among full-time drivers with just 24 points after missing four races earlier in the season. The Hendrick Motorsports driver faces a significant challenge to climb back into playoff contention with a 362-point deficit to overcome.
