Starting lineup for NASCAR race Sunday: Kyle Larson, William Byron qualify in top 10 at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway has historically been a playground for Hendrick Motorsports and armed with new Chevrolet bodies, the organization could be poised for a big Sunday. But capitalizing on that started on Saturday with qualifying. Kyle Larson led the Hendrick Motorsports contingent in time trials, turning in a lap of 29.103 to qualify fifth. William Byron wasn't far behind, using a lap of 29.217 to lock down the ninth spot. Rounding out the organization's teams, Chase Elliott will start 15th and Justin Allgaier, filling in for Alex Bowman in the No. 48 Ally Chevy this week, will roll off 22nd. Byron also picked up a victory at the facility in the spring of 2023. A race in the NASCAR O'Reilly Series was scheduled to finish off Saturday's racing, starting at 5:30 p.m. Hendrick Motorsports' Corey Day qualified 11th for that event earlier on Saturday and Larson will roll off second in the No. 88 HendrickCars.com Chevy for JR Motorsports.
