Lando Norris controlled the Miami Formula 1 sprint from the front to deliver a McLaren 1-2, leading home team-mate Oscar Piastri and securing the team’s first win of its title defence.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the podium in third. Behind him, George Russell and Max Verstappen were classified fourth and fifth after a post-flag penalty dropped championship leader Kimi Antonelli from fourth to sixth for track limits.
There was a further change three hours after the finish when Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto, who had initially taken 11th, was disqualified for an engine technical infringement.
It capped a bruising start to Saturday for Audi. Nico Hulkenberg suffered a fiery power unit failure on his reconnaissance lap and did not start. Arvid Lindblad also did not take the start for Racing Bulls.
Lewis Hamilton finished seventh for Ferrari. Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar took eighth and ninth respectively, with Franco Colapinto securing the final point in 10th for Alpine. Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman followed for Haas, ahead of Carlos Sainz, Liam Lawson, Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll, Alex Albon and Valtteri Bottas.
