LAS VEGAS - Since the debut of the new Chevrolet body, teams have pointed to Las Vegas Motor Speedway - an intermediate, 1.5-mile tri-oval - as a litmus test for performance. In the first true test of the year, Hendrick Motorsports passed with flying colors. Chase Elliott just ran out of laps, coming within a half second of a win before settling for second on Sunday, leading a trio of the organization's Chevies in the top 10. William Byron came home third and won a stage in the process while Kyle Larson capped a point-piling day with a seventh-place showing. "It was definitely better toward the end than we had started the run, and I thought there might be an opportunity," Elliott said. "As bummed as I am to come up that close to a win, I have to kind of bring myself to a reality check and just how much better we ran today than we have been running. I'm balancing that. Obviously, these things are hard to win, and we had a great opportunity to do it, but really proud of the effort throughout the week." Byron agreed that the finish was a great step in the right direction and a positive sign of the team's development of the new car . "This is a good run for us," Byron said. "The RAPTOR Chevrolet team was really good today, and I just feel like this is more of what we're accustomed to, so just really proud to see that effort and everyone back at the shop working hard on the new body and everything and just kind of getting everything dialed in. So, hopefully we can put together more runs like this and keep stringing them up." RELATED: A look at every win for Hendrick Motorsports at Las Vegas Play videoof: Work to do for tomorrow. No better group for it. 👊 The organization flashed speed all weekend and wasted no time showing it again on Sunday. In fact, Larson, Byron and Elliott each scored stage points in both segments with Byron picking up the first stage win for the organization in 2026, leading the field to the checkered flag at the end of stage two. Byron's ascent to the front was steady. He started ninth, finished the first segment sixth to earn five stage points and then rode long-run pace to pass Larson for the lead late in the second stage. Larson finished second in both stages, logging 18 bonus points while Elliott scored five bonus markers, finishing eighth in stage one and ninth in stage two. While other teams suffered pit road miscues throughout the day, the No. 5, No. 9 and No. 24 teams remained mostly rock solid and that helped in terms of track position late. A final caught waved with 56 laps to go. Byron and Elliott started on the second row with Elliott rocketing forward on the bottom lane to third. He'd pass Christopher Bell for second shortly after and spent the rest of the run erasing eventual-race-winner Denny Hamlin's lead. That pursuit continued right up to the fall of the checkered flag. Justin Allgaier, subbing in for Alex Bowman who continues his recovery from vertigo, finished 25th in overcoming a couple of miscues in stage one.
