Cadillac F1 Team will contest their first European Grand Prix in Monaco on June 5-7, bringing a new rear wing and exhaust tailpipe after recent updates in Miami and Canada. Leaders stress steady progress while Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas target a clean weekend at a track where they’ve both stood on the podium.

Key Takeaways

  • 1.Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings CEO Dan Towriss said: "Monaco is a milestone, our first race in Europe and one of the toughest weekends of the year.
  • 2.Following a major package in Miami and further tweaks in Canada, Cadillac will introduce more updates this weekend, including a new rear wing and an exhaust tailpipe.
  • 3.I love street tracks, and I have really fond memories from my win here in 2022, so hopefully we can continue making progress this weekend," added the Mexican veteran.

Cadillac F1 Team head to Monte Carlo for Round 6 of their debut Formula 1 campaign, marking their first Grand Prix in Europe from June 5 to 7. The 78-lap Circuit de Monaco, threading past Casino Square, Beau Rivage, the Fairmont Hairpin, La Rascasse and Anthony Noghes, is among the calendar’s most unforgiving tests.

Following a major package in Miami and further tweaks in Canada, Cadillac will introduce more updates this weekend, including a new rear wing and an exhaust tailpipe. The parts are aimed at extracting performance on Monaco’s low-speed, bumpy and highly technical streets.

Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings CEO Dan Towriss said: "Monaco is a milestone, our first race in Europe and one of the toughest weekends of the year. Every race has been a step forward, and that's the focus here: heads down, do the work, push the rate of progress. We're excited to get out there and keep building."

Team Principal Graeme Lowdon said: "For any team, but especially for a brand new team, Monaco is a massive challenge. We’ve made some notable steps forward in Miami and Montreal, but while Monaco presents opportunities with its unpredictability, our objectives will be the introduction of some further upgrades and to get through the weekend cleanly."

Cadillac’s line-up brings proven Monaco form. Sergio Perez won the race in 2022 and finished third in 2016, while Valtteri Bottas stood on the podium in 2019 and came close to pole that same year.

The team’s most competitive weekend so far came in Montreal, where Perez finished 11th on the road in the F1 Sprint. Cadillac have also recorded two-car finishes in China, Japan and Miami, plus the Sprint races in China, Miami and Canada.

Perez said: "We made a big step forward in Canada. I was able to race in the midfield in the Sprint and the Grand Prix. Of course, there are areas that we need to improve, but Cadillac is still very new. We are learning all the time and making progress together, as a team, step by step, race by race."

"Monaco is unique and extremely challenging, but it is one of my favorite races on the calendar. I love street tracks, and I have really fond memories from my win here in 2022, so hopefully we can continue making progress this weekend," added the Mexican veteran.

Bottas heads to the Principality targeting a cleaner weekend after a tricky recent run. He underlined that early setbacks are part of the process for a new team building rhythm and understanding.

He continued: "We know that progress takes time, but the team and I are working really well and very closely together to make those steps forward. Clearly, we are making progress and becoming more competitive session by session, which is exciting. It’s no secret that Monaco is challenging, but it’s a place that I love to race. I am excited to see what we can do."

The Monaco weekend will show how effectively Cadillac can convert recent development into performance on a circuit where confidence, execution and qualifying precision often decide the outcome. The key storyline to watch is whether the latest upgrades translate into a clean, upward step through practice, qualifying and the race.
